Lei Making Class
May 24 @ 9:00 am - 10:00 am
Owners and Guests of The Imperial are invited to participate in a free Lei Making Class. Learn the art of a traditional Kui (sewing) style of Lei Making. Making, giving, and receiving a lei is a tradition in the islands that can be traced back to the early Polynesians. The Polynesians used fragrant flowers, leaves, vines, and almost all types of different foliage to make a lei. In Hawaii today, we make leis and present them as a gesture of affection and appreciation. Leis are traditionally given out during big occasions like weddings, graduations, anniversaries and also when we say Aloha (hello or goodbye) to our visitors and family members.
Make your own traditional Hawaiian Lei! Class starts at 9am in the Imperial Hawaii Resort Lobby. This free activity is first come, first served until the flowers are gone! Class fills up fast, so come early!
